I will re-register my party affiliation
on the first Wednesday in November

Although I was one of the founders of the New Mexico Green Party, one of the authors of the Green Platform, the former curator of both the GP web site and the GP mailing list, I have noted that the party as a whole and I have grown apart, and can no longer achieve consensus as long as people like me are associated with them.

In other words, I got tired of constantly arguing. I have not attended a meeting since my nomination, and I don't intend to associate with them in the future. For more info on this see the history page.

When we started there was a much better mix of members which had a higher percentage of civil libertarians. I thought that perhaps, over time, some of the things the original GP convention had swept under the rug would be dealt with in a manner respective of peoples' right to life unmolested by big government. I was wrong.

Instead, we managed to get a heavy influx of former CP (Communist Party) members and seemingly the entire constituency of the SWP (Socialist Workers Party).

Since neither of those two factions seem to have a problem with big government controlling individuals' actions as a matter of principle, we have been at odds pretty much since the original convention, and at each other's throats since Carol Miller's initial campaign.

If I was to be elected I would have to form a new party for my supporters. I support the Green Values, but in a different manner than the Socialist/Communist set. I am a social progressive but fiscal conservative. I look at the SWP/CP folks as authoritarian spendthrifts.

You might gather from that why we could not achieve consensus.
