I nominate John Q. Public for his willingness to be controlled. Shame. John Q. Public, first of all, is all too willing to be entertained and distracted by bread and circuses. John Q. Public is all too quick to perceive the ability to do the above as being success and comfort, and it less than willing to do things that will upset the status quo. The majority of John Q. Public now has money invested in the stock market, and thinks the status quo is in his interest. But he does not know the stock market is built on borrowed money, and will quickly find that out when the crash comes. John Q. Public doesn't pay attention to his pay check stub and realize how much of his money goes out in taxes. John Q. Public doesn't worry about the DEA, IRS, BATF, etc. until they invade his home or that of one of his close friends. When John reads it in the biased statists news, he thinks they must have been guilty of something, and government is therefore doing it's job. John Q. Public has bought into all the hysteria about drugs, and supports the war on drugs. John Q. Public has been brainwashed in our state run school system. Yet, despite all this, John Q. Public also knows: 1. We work longer hours for less money now, way too many two parent families with both mom and dad working, but John doesn't know why this is. 2. Government harasses us on a daily basis, something John doesn't agree with, but he does not know why that is, and what he can do about it. It's all too overwhelming for John. 3. Government is fundementally corrupt, as well as most that serve in it. But John doesn't know how to fix that either, he thinks all politicians are scum. 4. John Q. Public think he lives well now, but he wants to live even better, and he's willing to listen to someone who has a vision of a society better than what we have now. Our job is to present that vision, show why freedom is that vision, and convince John to support us. |
